Training:
Friday 2nd March, 2012 - Social Welfare Entitlements for Workers. Commening at 9.30am until 1pm. This half day workshop is being held in the Aisling Hotel, Parkgate Street, Dublin 7 and costs €25.00.
Sheila Hayes will be presenting on the day and the aim is to inform participants of the range of welfare benefits availabe to workers, especially in light of the recent budget changes.
The learning outcome on completion of this course the participants should be aware of:
- The different PRSI classes and the benefits available
- The payments that may be available during periods of illness or disability
- The entitlement to Carer's Benefit to look after a person/relative in need of full-tiem care and attention
- How the Family Income Supplement scheme can improve the financial position of working families on low pay and of working spouses/partners of those on welfare payments.
- The entitlemtn to a Contribution Widow's/widower's/surviving Civil Partner's pension upon the detah of a spouse or civil partner
- The entitlement to a Mixed Insurance Pro Rata State Pension to persons who have at least 260 full-rate PRSI contributions paid.
- The range of Secondary Benefits available to persons at age 66
- Health entitlements - Medical Card, GP visit card, Long term illness Card.

Friday 25th November 2011- Anger Management workshop presented by Padraig O'Morain. This workshop was presented by Padraig O'Morain.
Padraig O'Morain MA, BA (Hons), Certification in Buddhist Psychology, Diploma in Counselling. Member of the British Psychological Society, IACP and William Glasser Institute Ireland.
He is a counsellor and writer and is the auther of a number of self-help books including 'Like A Man - a guide to men's emotional wellbeing' and 'Light Mind - mindfulness in daily living'. He writes a weekly column for The Irish Times.
EAPA Ireland AGM - May 26th, 2011 in the Coach House, Dublin Castle. The presenter in the morning was Ray McKiernan of the Stress Management Institute. Followed in the afternoon with the AGM of EAPA Ireland.

Organisations are confronted with unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety and depression(SAD) in the workplace. The mental wellbeing of employees is an increasing focus of human resource professionals struggling to deal with this new challenge in the workplace. This seminar introduced employee
assistance professionals to a progressive model of mental health relevant to these demands.
THE FACILITATOR: Ray McKiernan M.A is a director, specialist skills trainer, lecturer, and training consultant with the Stress Management Institute of Ireland. He is a certified Stress & Wellness consultant with the internationally renowned Hans Selye Foundation in Canada and has completed his clinical training in Mind-Body Medicine in the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Motivational Interviewing was held on the 14th & 15th of April 2011, in the Croke Park Hotel and was well received by those who attended. EAPA Ireland hope to provide a course on Motivational Interviewing in the Autumn.
Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered approach that elicits behavioural changes by assisting individuals explore and resolve ambivalence. Research has show this approach to be helpful with a wide spectrum of client populations and issues.
Introduction course - participants will acquire a solid base of M.I. Theory, explore M.I. spirit, investigate opening strategies, intervention traps, explore resistance, develop and integrate skills and techniques to progress competency. This workshop will benefit any professionals working with people where behaviour change would be favourable.
Trainer: Brian Foley has worked in the addiction field for 21 years and is Client Programmes Co-Ordinator for a Dublin based Addiction Service. He completed his Motivational Interviewing Training with Miller & Rollnick in 1999. Brian has facilitated the M.I. Module of the Diploma in Community Drugs Work, U.C.D. and has provided numerous workshops on Addiction related issues.

Ethical Awareness, a course particularly aimed at those preparing for CEAP, presented by Lorus Collum, CEAP took place on 17th December 2010 at OPW, 52 St. Stephen’s Green. This course was extremely well received with positive comments and feedback from all attendees. It is hoped to repeat this course again this year. The date will be announced closer to the time.
